Solved: Headset stopped being recognized when plugged into Lenovo monitor

Have you recently tried to listen to something on your headset which is plugged directly into your Lenovo monitor but it is not being recognized? After hours of trying a bunch of things, here's the EASY solution!

Disclaimer: This solution only works for Windows OS.

  1. Firstly, with your headset plugged into the monitor still, open Device Manager (open the search bar and simply type “device manager”)
  2. Scroll down to the Sound, video and game controllers ribbon and expand it
  3. You should be able to see your headset in the list here even though you do not see it in the sound output device setting
  4. Right click on your headset’s name, and click Uninstall device
  5. Now disconnect your headset from the monitor and re-connect it
  6. Some drivers may try to automatically install – let it
  7. You should now be able to see your headset listed in the sound output setting on the task bar
